Hrana za pse je en največjih dejavnikov zdravega in dolgega življenja našega psa. Suha hrana oziroma pasji briketi so enostaven način hranjenja, ki psu vsak dan zagotavlja popoln in uravnotežen obrok, nas pa ne skrbi, da bi mu karkoli primanjkovalo.

Pasji briketi so najbolj priljubljena oblika hrane za pse prav zaradi enostavne uporabe. Vsebujejo vse, kar pes potrebuje za zadovoljno življenje: beljakovine, sadje in zelenjavo, zelišča, ogljikove hidrate in funkcionalne dodatke.
Niso pa vse hrane med seboj enake! Razlikujejo se glede na sestavo, namembnost in kvaliteto sestavin, zato je zelo pomembno, da se pred nakupom dobro pozanimamo in informiramo o različnih vrstah pasje hrane.
Briketi ali peleti?
Suha hrana za psa je lahko v dveh oblikah, ki pa se med seboj precej razlikujeta glede na način predelave: briketi ali hladno stiskana hrana v obliki peletov.
- Briketi:najbolj pogosta oblika suhe pasje hrane. To so toplotno obdelane, pečene kroglice hrane.
- Peleti:so narejeni s hladnim postopkom predelave surovin, ki ohrani več naravne hranilne vrednosti sestavin. Tudi prebava peletov je nekoliko drugačna, zato jih ne smemo v obrok mešati z briketi.
Starost psa – hrana za različna življenjska obdobja
Suha pasja hrana se po sestavi razlikuje glede na to, koliko staremu psu je namenjena. Za optimalen razvoj je najboljše, če psu ponudimo hrano, primerno njegovi starosti.
- Mladiči:mladiči potrebujejo kalorično bogato hrano, ki jim pomaga pri hitri rasti in razvoju.
- Odrasli psi:potrebujejo zmerno kalorično raven v hrani, seveda pa količino prilagajamo na njegovo velikost in aktivnost.
- Starejši psi:naši seniorčki so pogosto manj aktivni in raje poležavajo na kavču, temu primerna pa mora biti tudi hrana, saj ne želimo, da bi jih ovirala odvečna teža. Hrana za seniorje pogosto vsebuje tudi funkcionalne sestavine za sklepe, okostje in prebavo.
- Hrana za vse starosti:nekatere vrste hrane pa so primerne tako za mladiče, kot starejše pse, le doziranje se spreminja. Idealno za dom z večimi psi!
Velikost psa
Tudi velikost psa igra pomembno vlogo pri izbiri hrane, saj imajo zelo majhni psi drugačne zahteve od zelo velikih psov, seveda pa je važna tudi velikost samega briketa.
- Male pasme:potrebujejo veliko energije in majhne grižljajčke.
- Srednje pasme:psi srednje velikih pasem so navadi zelo aktivni.
- Velike pasme:potrebujejo velike brikete, da jim hrana ne zaide v sapnik, poleg tega pa je priporočljiv dodatek glukozaminov za sklepe.
- Zelo velike pasme:načeloma potrebujejo manj kalorično hrano z dodatki za zdravo okostje in sklepe!
- Vse velikosti:nekatera suha hrana za pse pa je primerne velikosti in sestave za vse velikosti psov.
Različne znamke pasje hrane
Najbrž smo že slišali za naslednje znamke: Royal Canin, Taste of the wild, Eukanuba, Hill's, Monge? Nekatere znamke so na tržišču že desetletja in so si tako ustvarile zveneča imena, seveda pa ne smemo pozabiti na manj znane, a vsekakor izjemno kvalitetne znamke pasje hrane, ki dajo velik pomen izbranim sestavinam!
