The raw material processing process in regular kibble is subjected to high temperatures (cooking, baking), which destroy some of the natural nutrients. Cold-pressed dog food, on the other hand, is produced at lower temperatures, which preserves more of the natural nutrients in the ingredients.
Cold-pressed dog food has several advantages:
- Better digestibility: lower processing temperatures mean better preservation of enzymes and nutrients that aid digestion.
- Natural ingredients: cold-pressed food generally contains fewer artificial additives.
- Slower swelling in the stomach: unlike regular kibble, cold-pressed pellets swell more slowly in the stomach, which can reduce the risk of bloating.
It's important to note that cold-pressed food and regular kibble should not be mixed in the same meal, as they digest at different rates. If you want to switch your dog from regular kibble to cold-pressed food, do so gradually over 7–10 days.
